Walt Disney, NBC Universal and Warner Bros. Studios
Three of the biggest names in Hollywood are actually located just north of it, in Burbank. NBC Universal, Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. all got their start here and are still the headquarters for these giant entertainment conglomerates. All three of them offer several type of tours every day, with one —Universal Studios— being a theme park.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is famous the world over. However, few know about its equally impressive younger brother in Burbank, the Animal Walk of Fame, which presents the names as well as the paw prints of some of the industry’s best-known animal celebrities. It is located in front of the Burbank Animal Shelter, and its concrete tiles list famous animal actors like Benji and Lassie. This small shrine was established along with the PATSY Awards, which celebrate animals in film.
Glendale City
Glendale is on the outskirts of Los Angeles and is known for its gorgeous scenery. In fact, you can go hiking in the neighboring mountains, where you will find rough ground scattered with wildflowers. Biking and hiking are also popular in the area, or in one of the city’s parks.
The Museum of Neon Art first opened to the public in 1981, and the museum is dedicated to the conservation of neon works of art, made from neon lighting. Today, it is known as MONA and provides a quirky day out if you have never seen this kind of installation before.
